Course Details
This consists of US18496 (V2): Demonstrate forklift driving knowledge and abilities for endorsement F. (forklifts).
With the aforementioned unit standard, you can use a forklift in a public setting. For instance, a street, culvert, ferry, or highway.
You can operate the forklifts listed below if you have the following class of licence:
- • Forklifts with a Gross Laden Weight of 18,000 kg are permitted under the NZ Class 1 Full Licence.
- • Forklifts with a Gross Laden Weight of more than 18,000 kg are permitted under the NZ Class 2 Full Licence.
Remember that licence endorsement and its class systems work in combination.
Course Requirement
- • A valid NZ Work Safe forklift operating certificate is required.
- • Must possess a full class 1 NZ licence.
Course Specifics:
This course combines written evaluation, followed by practical training and testing, with theory knowledge instruction of all areas of safe operation requirements when driving a forklift on a public access road.

- Guided Practice: Allow participants to practice the skills or tasks under supervision, providing immediate and constructive feedback to ensure correct understanding.
- Q&A session: Allocate time for participants to ask questions, clarify doubts, and ensure they fully grasp the knowledge.
3. Final Practical Assessment (10 minutes)
- Practical Test: Participants will complete the task independently, demonstrating their understanding and ability to apply the skills covered in the session.
- Evaluation: Observe participants during the test, ensuring they follow the correct procedures and apply the learned concepts effectively.

- If the participant does not meet the expected standards: A re-training and re-assessment session will be scheduled.
- Additional Charges: Please note that extra charges will apply for any re-training or additional assessment sessions ($50 per hour).
An NZTA Licence Endorsement Certificate is awarded following the successful completion of the theoretical and practical exams; this certificate must be presented to any VTNZ Agency for the licence registration process.
